Insert Text

With Insert Text you can insert a saved block of text in any editable field. Simply right click where you want to insert it, open the ‘Insert Text’ menu and select the text to insert. It’s that easy. It will work with any input field, rich text editor or your favourite email account such as GMail, Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail.

Save time by creating blocks of text that you often use like a signature for your emails or your address for e-commerce sites.

    It worked for me in the fields above, but does not work in Gmail. Win Vista 32bit SP2. Chrome. Any ideas?

    I would SO like this to work – it could save me hours.

    Best wishes,

    Nick Bomford

    Same here. I was able to get it working in Gmail if I switched it to “Plain Text”, but Rich Formatting didn’t work. Otherwise, exactly what I was looking for.

    Mine is working in Gmail Rich Text Editor when pasting plain text Chrome 16.0.912.75 on MACOSX 10.6.8 Had to restart browser.

    Feature suggestion – Allow placeholder text, like {{FIRST_NAME}}, and have it do some Javascript prompts to fill them in. Should be an easy enough feature.

    Here’s some code for placeholders so you can add it to the next version. (insert into content.js, line11)

    text = text.replace(/\$\[(\w+)\]/g, function (s, contents) { return window.prompt(“Please Enter: ” + contents,”"); });

    Tokens can then be added to snippets like

    “Dear $[FIRST_NAME], You are late on your payment for invoice $[INVOICE_NUMBER]. Thank you”
